iWave Storage Automator

iWave Storage Automator is a next-generation storage automation platform for enterprise storage systems. Storage Administrators can leverage iWave Storage Automator’s policy-based workflows to provide automated services for:

  • Storage Provisioning: Automatically provision storage on an array, manage the storage fabric, and configure a host and/or application to connect to the provisioned storage.
  • Storage Reclamation: Automatically identify and reclaim space from unused storage and storage devices.
  • Storage Remediation: Automatically correct issues that are detected within your enterprise storage environment.

Storage users including DBAs, software developers, and systems administrators can access automated storage services through iWave Storage Automator’s self-service portal and service catalog. The automated storage services the users can view and request are determined by their role in the organization.

Storage administrators can access the Storage Automator portal to configure policies on automated storage services. A few examples of the policies that can be set on services include:

  • Approval: Storage administrators can specify that approval must be obtained prior to the execution of an automated storage service.
  • Execution Schedule: Storage administrators can specify when automated services may be executed to comply with storage maintenance windows.
  • Naming Conventions: Storage administrators can enforce naming conventions on device names, volume names, etc.
  • Storage Limits: Storage administrators can enforce limits on how much storage can be requested on a per-user, per-device or per-service basis.

Storage workflow developers can modify existing iWave Storage Automator services or create new services using the iWave Storage Automator design studio’s drag and drop interface. iWave Storage Automator services are represented as workflows within design studio. Once a new automated storage service has been created or modified, an iWave Storage Automator wizard will guide the storage workflow developer through the process of publishing that service to the iWave Storage Automator service catalog. Once in the catalog, storage administrators can configure policies and publish the new service out to the storage users.
