One of the emerging applications of IT Process Automation is event
management. IT departments face constant pressure to reduce their event
resolution time (mean time to repair) and improve the availability of
their enterprise applications. Event Management Automation offers a
promising solution. By automating the manual workflows that typically
occur in response to network events, Event Management Automation allows IT
organizations to respond faster, thus reducing the impact on the
availability of their mission-critical applications.
| | Event Detection: Your event management systems (e.g., HP Operations, IBM TEC, CA NSM, and Microsoft Operations Manager) detect an event on your system. |
| | Event Correlation & Evaluation: iWave Automator evaluates the event to determine whether it can be resolved automatically. If required, iWave Automator correlates the event with other ITSM applications in your environment to determine whether an automated response is available. |
| | Change Management: iWave Automator opens a change request in your change management system. If required, iWave Automator generates emails to the appropriate IT departments. |
| | Resolve the Event: Once a change request is approved, iWave Automator sends commands to the appropriate system(s) to resolve the event (e.g., VMWare Virtual Center, Windows/Linux/Unix operating system commands, and CA ARCserve). |
| | Verify Resolution: iWave Automator evaluates the success of the automated remedy. If unsuccessful, it updates the change request and notifies the appropriate IT personnel. |
| | Close Change Request: If the automated remedy is successful, iWave Automator closes the request. |
