ITPA Advantages—Customer Case Studies
Customer Case Studies
For over 17 years, Global 500 companies, Managed Service Providers and IT Outsourcers have selected iWave Software products to integrate, automate and orchestrate mission critical processes throughout the data center. Referenced below are a few examples of the results obtained by our customers.

Dynamic Server Provisioning
Unisys Engineering Resource Lab (Unisys ERL) selected iWave’s Virtual Machine Lifecycle Management Accelerator to streamline and automate the provisioning of virtual and physical server resources. ERL is the Unisys organization responsible for the provisioning, development and testing of IT resources for major corporate projects.
Utilizing the iWave Accelerator, IT requests are created using a self-service portal and online service catalog. Requests falling within policy guidelines are automatically approved, and workflows designed to provision, configure and administer the server are executed. The workflow confirms that sufficient resources are available, determines which physical system will host the VM, executes the many steps to create the VM, and notifies the requestor when the virtual server is available. The VM location is tracked over a defined “lease” period and upon expiration either extends the lease or initiates a request to see if it can be returned to the resource pool.

Dynamic Server Provisioning
A large, international financial institution selected iWave’s Dynamic Server Provisioning Accelerator to automate the provisioning of virtual and physical server resources globally. This major German Investment Bank runs a 24/7 global infrastructure in support of its Financial Services business. In addition to automated provisioning, the project goals included controlling server sprawl, eliminating build errors and ensuring high utilization to lower future hardware spending outlays.
Utilizing the iWave Accelerator, 26 core processes involving physical and virtual server builds, administration, decommission and resource reallocation are delivered through automated services. The iWave Accelerator connects 18 distinct legacy management tools across the virtual machine lifecycle and has resulted in 100% build accuracy.

| COST SAVINGS |
Achieve $30.0 million, 5-year total savings using the iWave Virtual Machine Lifecycle Management Accelerator. |
| FASTER DELIVERY |
Enable a 45-minute turnaround — from request to provisioning — for virtual machines, down from 60+ working days using manual processes. |
| GREATER EFFICIENCY |
Reduce servers build error rates from 28% to 0%. |

Service Desk Integration
A leading worldwide banking institution selected iWave’s Service Desk Integration Accelerator to provide a scalable, cost effective solution that would allow seamless entry and routing of incidents between three different countries from three unique service desks, including one delivered by a managed service provider and a data center. The project requirements dictated that the entire process needed to scale to new branches and partners, and most importantly, be invisible to the bank’s vast network of customers.
The result was the adoption of an IT process automation approach to “virtualize” the service desk. The “virtual” service desk allows a call to be taken at each location, and a ticket created and routed to the appropriate location without making the customer hang up and dial a different number. As a result, Mean-Time-To-Repair (MTTR) times as well as operating costs have fallen dramatically. Since going live, a network service provider’s service desk is being added to the “virtual” service desk using one of iWave’s pre-built adapters.
|
| COST SAVINGS |
Achieve 1.7MM+ annual savings using the iWave Service Desk Integration Accelerator. |
| FASTER DELIVERY |
The “virtual” service desk allows a call to be taken at each location and a ticket created and routed to the appropriate location without making the customer hang up and dial a different number. Accommodates new branches without app migration or retraining. |
| GREATER EFFICIENCY |
Reduced incident error rates from 15% to 0%. |

Closed Loop Change Management
Jabil, a leading global leader in the Electronic Manufacturing Services arena selected iWave Software’s Closed Loop Change Management Accelerator to improve the speed and compliance of their SAP Change Request (CR) process. Existing CR process consisted of phone calls, spreadsheets and e-mails to manually track transport requests and prepare audit reports. This process was cumbersome and time-consuming and the risk of error was high. SAP lacked built-in tools to easily check object dependencies and rollback errant transports.
The result was a simple, automated closed-loop process for approving tracking and audit change requests. Transport request movement is automatically executed after the designated approval process is satisfied. An administrator can easily rollback or undo a faulty transport in the event of an undesired or adverse effect on the landscape. The entire transport management process was consolidated within SAP, eliminating the need for disparate systems and manual actions. In addition, the availability of an accurate audit trail of system changes allows for Sarbanes Oxley compliance reporting.
|
| COST SAVINGS |
77% time savings in promoting 1300 transports |
| FASTER DELIVERY |
Sarbanes Oxley Audit scores are up. Preparation time and costs are down. Automated transport promotion and approval routing after designated tasks are complete. |
| GREATER EFFICIENCY |
Repeatable, compliant change request process that conforms to ITIL best practices |

Automated Disaster Recovery
A UK-based mobile telecommunication company banking institution selected iWave Software’s Automated Disaster Recovery Accelerator to provide a cost effective solution to support critical business applications.
The result was the adoption of an IT process automation approach to disaster recovery. The system was designed to automatically flex IT resources to meet application and user demands in real time as well as improve business continuity service levels. It can fail-over the production systems environment to the non-production development and test environment to enable the latter to double-up as the disaster recovery back-up – all in a matter of seconds.
|
| COST SAVINGS |
Achieve 5-10MM+ savings per outage. |
| FASTER DELIVERY |
The automated disaster recovery process allows controlled repurposing of resources and allows ongoing testing of recovery procedures against data center configuration and technology changes. |
| GREATER EFFICIENCY |
48 hrs to 17 min outage recovery. |
